Details

The tomb of Yar Uddin Khalifa is located in Mirzaganj upazila of Patuakhali district. The Year Uddin Caliph Yearuddin calif (R) came to Patuakhali from Faridpur after losing his nearest and dearest ones. He was born at Dhamsi village in Faridpur in the Bengali year 1220. After coming to Patuakhali he made to hear the people about religion. At that time he set up a shop in Mirzaganj. Beside this, he sewed cap and sold it. For this reason people called him calif. He trusted people very much. People paid money after weighing goods by themselves from this shop. It is konown to many of his miracles. People have also seen him walking on clear water. He died in Bengal in 1328 at Mirzaganj. He was buried there. At present his shrine, mosque, school, reader, hospital etc. have been built there. 24 and 25 falgun mahfils are held at his shrine every year. Millions of people gather in the mahfil. Besides, thousands of devotees come to visit the shrine every day.
